Downey's Take
Crude up almost $3 (+3%) to $86 (WTI) and $91 (Brent) as US forces struck two Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island in the strait. This happened just before 4:39pm ET Sunday evening.
The US said the launchers were preparing to fire sea-mine-filled rockets into the waterway. It was the first known American strike on Iranian territory since late July. Iran then retaliated by attacking two US air bases in Jordan just before 1:20am ET Monday morning, according to Iranian media.
Platinum down $41 (-2.2%) and Palladium down $27 (-1.9%), both on profit-taking amid Fed rate-hike expectations weighing on non-yielding metals.
Wheat down $8 (-1.0%) following last weeks Russia/Ukraine Black Sea led grains rally.
JKM down $0.24 (-1.0%) on easing European demand and narrowing JKM-TTF arbitrage spread.
Rebar up $4 (+1.0%) on China policy support and seasonal construction demand pickup ahead of peak season.

ONEOK agreed to acquire Brazos Midstream's Permian Midland Basin natural gas gathering and processing assets for $4.425 billion in cash. The deal more than doubles ONEOK's processing capacity in the region to 2.3 Bcf/d and is funded partly by a $9 billion nonvoting minority equity investment from Apollo, with $5 billion used to reduce debt.
