Downey's Take
Oil up $1 to $69.50 (WTI) as Iran (IRGC) fired missiles at two commercial ships overnight July 6 (Monday night ET). One of the vessels was a Qatari LNG tanker. Both ships damaged but no casualties. The vessels were usung the southern corridor near Omani coast (U.S./Oman-backed route), not Iran’s preferred northern side.
Cotton up $2.18 (+2.8%) on adverse weather conditions in key regions supporting higher prices.
Coffee down $9.1 (-2.7%) on Brazil’s record 2026/27 harvest outlook and improved rainfall boosting production prospects.
Silver down $1.02 (-1.6%) on profit-taking and cooling investment demand after recent volatility.
Nat Gas up $0.037 (+1.1%) on falling Lower 48 output and rising LNG export flows.
Zinc (SHFE $/mt) up $29 (+0.9%) on modest physical buying amid stable regional parameters.
