The Zeitgeist
What the commodity market couldn't stop talking about this week · and the trade it implies.
Hormuz tanker flows recovered toward 13 mbpd pre-war levels with 19 VLCCs moving 33.7 million barrels this week.
The angle · Narrow Brent-Dubai EFS; contango should deepen as Middle East crude clears Gulf.
US diesel export ban talk peaked then faded after G7 agreed to release 100 million barrels of emergency stocks starting immediately.
The angle · Own front-month gasoil against crude; crack spreads should narrow on product stock release.
LME copper stocks rose above 248 kt with available warrants climbing and COMEX holding near 700 kt.
The angle · LME over COMEX copper; geographic arb should narrow as US tariff premium fades.
Henry Hub rallied on Mountaineer XPress force majeure cutting 1.4 to 1.8 bcfd then eased after repairs.
The angle · Front-month Henry Hub against deferred; backwardation should flatten post-outage resolution.
Middle East crude exports rebounded to near 13 mbpd this month via Hormuz and bypass routes.
The angle · Own prompt Dated Brent against futures; physical premium should ease as flows normalize.
The angle is market-structure color, not advice.
